| Shell Artist Carolyn Spitzer Carolyn has lived in many places, including North Carolina, Colorado, Florida, Hawaii, Georgia, and Southern Andalusia region of Spain. She loves shells and writes this about her art: “Tybee Island, Georgia is a laid-back community on the eastern coast of Georgia, where the Atlantic Ocean is the canvas for our sunrises. It’s here that I found my wonder for shells. I am constantly amazed at the skills used by the creatures of the sea to make their sturdy homes. By turning their shells into art, we can all marvel at their creations. My hand-made shell crafts, produced in the “cottage industry” style, are shipped directly from my kitchen table workspace to you! No craft piece leaves my home that I have not checked at least twice. All of my crafts are made in one of three natural shades: Blues (including grays and blacks), Oranges (including beiges and whites), and Whites (including pale pinks and other light colors that please the eye). No shells are dyed — all shells are hand-selected for their natural colors. Remember that no two craft pieces are ever the same. I call my business “A Piece of Tybee”, as in “Mama, I want to take home a piece of Tybee.” In the Tybee style, all crafts are assembled with patience, because nothing wondrous is ever done in haste.” |
