Combining her mutual loves of photography and history, Gini Steele, along with her husband Richard have created an extensive collection of photographic images of times long gone by. Throughout their work with historical societies, archivists and researchers they realized that there was a need to restore and reproduce these historic images and make them available before they are lost forever.
Staying true to the genre, Gini used traditional photographic processes to both restore and reproduce the collection of old glass plates, negatives and photographs. She enjoys the challenge of interpreting the old negatives in her darkroom.
Inspired by both the architecture and the natural beauty of the coastal southeast, Gini likes creating her own original photographs. She is currently working on a series of miniature black and white photographs that she hand tints.
Gini resides in Beaufort, SC with her husband Richard and her two cats, Zoe and Bailey.
